Enchanted Rock State Natural Area
Home to the largest pink granite rock in the U.S., Enchanted Rock is a must-visit every time we head towards Fredericksburg! We love to have a quick picnic at the base before taking the Summit Trail straight up the 425-foot-tall dome or the Loop Trail for a more moderate climb to reach those sweeping Hill Country views up top.
Plus, there are 7+ other trails weaving around caves, boulders, and unique rock formations, and a hidden cave system you can explore!

STARGAZING LIKE NOWHERE ELSE
The magic doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. In fact, it only gets better! Enchanted Rock is designated an International Dark Sky Park, meaning you’ll get some of the clearest night skies in Texas that are even comparable to those at Big Bend. So bring a blanket or camp overnight to spot the Milky Way, constellations, and maybe even a shooting star in the Texas sky! ✨
Pro tip: Check online for moon phases to time your visit when the sky will be at its darkest and clearest.
HOW TO VISIT ENCHANTED ROCK
Reservations are required, so be sure to grab a pass on the Texas Parks & Wildlife site before you go! Day passes are just $8 and give you access all day, but if you want to stay for the stars, book a campsite instead for only $14 a night.
If you’re looking for a hiking or outdoor adventure in Texas, save this and put Enchanted Rock on your list. You won’t regret it!
