Scholz Garten

Scholz Garten isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a Texas institution with a legacy that spans generations. It was founded by August Scholz, a German immigrant and has been a gathering place for football fans, music lovers, and beer enthusiasts for over 150 years and is home to the Austin Sängerrunde, the state’s oldest German choir and bowling league. Though ownership has changed over time, Scholz has never closed, making it the longest-running business in Texas—and when the current owners took over, they got the keys one night and opened the doors at 7am the next morning!
