LA MEZCA
Created by the Vazquez sisters of Austin’s beloved Veracruz, this new intimate mezcalería is dedicated to celebrating artisanal producers, sustainable mezcal and the cultural traditions behind the spirit! With a cozy lounge inspired by Mexican ofrendas, it’s a vibrant little portal straight to Mexico where you can sip below the hand-painted murals while taking in the warm lighting, plentiful marigolds, and stone tables that bring the whole space to life!

Sip your way through over 20 agave spirits while learning the stories behind each one! From classic mezcal cocktails to tasting experiences, every drink is crafted with heritage in mind and is brought to life by the knowledgeable staff! And never fear, they have plenty of bites like chips and guac or their Taquitos de la Calle, to keep you going as you sip your way through the menu! We enjoyed the:
💛 El Ritual: Made with Mexican rum, vermouth, cinnamon syrup, lime juice & blackstrap bitters!
🍹 Oro Verde: a sweet & smooth cocktail made w/ mezcal, piña tatemada syrup, lemon juice, avocado puree &cacao bitters!
🌵 El Desierto: light mix of tequila blanco, hibiscus liqueur, guava & lime juice served with a spiced rim!
LOCATION & HOURS
You can find La Mezca nestled right next door to Veracruz Fonda across from Mueller’s Lake Park! Open Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from 5pm to 12am, and Fridays & Saturdays from 5pm to 2am! Whether you’re looking for an early tasting to a late-night mezcal moment, this spot seriously needs to be on your must-try list!
