If you haven’t tried Georgian cuisine, you are missing out! But don’t worry, we hadn’t either, but now are in love with the warm, gooey Khachapuris from the new Bread Boat!

BREAD BOAT
This fresh East Side spot opened just a few months ago & was dreamed up by friends from Seattle who wanted to share their culture and a new cuisine with the Austin food scene! Plus, their head chef, Khatuna Kopaliani, was born and raised in Batumi, a coastal city by the Black Sea that also happens to be the birthplace of Adjarian khachapuri! Meaning she is bringing all that expertise and those same warm, cheesy bread boats (and a whole lot of Georgian hospitality) here!

WHERE CHEESY DREAMS & GOOD WINE MEET
Of course, the stars of the menu are the delicious Khachapuri (the famous cheese-filled bread boats), but the menu doesn’t stop there. You’ll also find hearty meat pies, vibrant vegan platters, and a golden layered cake that’ll make you rethink skipping dessert. The,n to top it off, pair it all with a glass of Georgian wine for the full experience. After all, Georgia is known as the “birthplace of wine” for a reason! We enjoyed:
🥖 Adjaruli Khachapuri: try the classic boat filled with Georgian cheeses, golden egg yolk & butter
🍗 Herbed Chicken Boat: chicken cooked with garlic, herbs, & molten cheese in a golden crust
🍅 Pkhali Platter (vegan): bread w/ traditional walnut pâtés from beets, carrots & green beans
🥮 Ideal Cake: soft cake w/ rich layers of honey & walnuts
🍷 Amber Dilao: glass of the natural white/amber wine made in Kvervri
COZY CAFE CHARM
This bright and cozy space is effortlessly welcoming from the sunny patio (with shade & a fan for those hotter days) to the Georgian touches on the walls from sayings in the native language. Plus, the cozy vibe is really sealed by the warm tile and homey ceramic plates lining the walls! All that, coupled with the warm, delicious bites, makes this the perfect choice for fall lunches, date nights, or your next foodie adventure!
