OLIVE & JUNE
Olive & June opened in 2012, and is a part of chef Shawn Cirkiel’s ‘Parkside Projects’ - alongside Parkside and The Backspace. Shawn named Olive & June after his grandmother and his wife. Why Italian? Like many chefs, his travels to Italy have influenced his cooking, but the roots of his love of Italy go back to his time spent in the South Bronx enjoying family dinners as a kid!
THE AMAZING SPACE
The 3-story building is wrapped by a 200-year-old oak tree with 4 dining areas inside and out…transporting you to a rural Italian city! The space is modern yet casual, with large rounded upholstered booths, wooden farm tables, vintage wall decor, and windows surrounding the space allowing for views of the kitchen and patio. Each story has its own energy and ambiance, with the downstairs indoor dining room more elegant and the upstairs bar area a little more upbeat!
Plus, it’s first come first serve on the 2nd-floor patio with bar service, making it fabulous for last-minute dinner plans.
MENU
As Chef has said before “its a Southern Italian menu, with a little Northern mixed in”. Antipasti starters, homemade pasta, small plates, and large dinner entrees! For starters, you have to try the pork meatballs and homemade pasta must be in your lineup. Entrees feature fish and meats surrounded by a few sides like crispy potatoes or baked eggplant!
WINE, GRAPPA, HAPPY HOUR + MORE
They feature a plethora of specialty cocktails and an inspired wine list. Fun fact: you will find the largest and most diverse selection of Italian wines, Amari, and Grappa in Austin! Enjoy Happy Hour Tuesday through Saturday at the bar (4:45 PM – 6 PM) + at a table (5 PM - 6 PM) with deals like 1/2 off beer, wine by the glass, and cocktails! Plus, on Sunday the chef goes off the menu and serves a prix-fixe, family-style dinner. Bon Appetit!
