WICKED OAKS
Wicked Oaks is a newly imagined gathering that merges three well-known festival identities—Freaky Deaky, Summoning, and ILLfest—into a single immersive weekend! The festival was put on by Disco Presents, a veteran promoter in the festival world, hosting roughly 1,000 events per year, including big-name fests like Ubbi Dubbi, Texas Eclipse, Ember Shores, and more.

WEATHER CANCELLATION
In true ‘festival in Austin’ fashion, Wicked Oaks had some challenges with Mother Nature over the weekend. Here’s everything that happened:
-
Friday: Due to forecasts of heavy rain and lightning, and possible hail and flash flooding Wicked Oaks delayed the opening of camping. Attendees who secured alternate Friday-night hotel lodging due to the delay are able to be reimbursed.
-
Saturday: Doors were delayed three hours at the direction of local authorities due to possible inclement weather and opened at 5pm once conditions cleared. An unexpected severe storm developed at 10pm, prompting a site-wide evacuation. Ground conditions following the storm prevented a safe reopening that night.
-
Sunday: Weather-related damage was mitigated to the best of their ability, and a free shuttle service was added from Circuits of America because most parking areas were unusable. The event reopened after a one-hour delay and operated safely for the remainder of the day!
OUR EXPERIENCE
Leave it to the unpredictable Austin weather to act up! We were heartbroken about the Saturday cancellation, and definitely had a trek through the mud like everyone else – but had a great time prior to that, and were thrilled that the festival was able to reopen on Sunday!
We can’t speak for all attendees’ experience, and know many people had a tough time getting off the festival grounds on Saturday night, but are impressed with the measures Wicked Oaks is taking to make it right! Disco Presents can’t control the weather – even though we wish they could!
